Daho is best known in Britain for his appearence on the number 11 Saint Etienne hit single "He's On The Phone", which is an English-language adaptation of his 1984 French-language hit "Weekend à Rome". He also collaborated with Saint Etienne on the Resurrection EP, his album Eden, and his single "Le Premier Jour", itself based on the track "Ready or Not" from Sarah Cracknell's 1997 solo album "Lipslide".
He has worked with many other artists, such as Chris Isaak, Marianne Faithfull, Elli Medeiros, Astrud Gilberto, Vanessa Daou, the Swingle Singers, and more. His duet with Charlotte Gainsbourg, titled "If", was released in 2004.
His 1996 album Eden featured a mix of electronic-oriented songs, ranging from downtempo ballads to drum 'n' bass-influenced tracks, and HiNRG dance. Corps & armes (2000) saw Daho return to a more orchestral sound fuelled by traditional instruments, such as piano, acoustic guitar, and horns. In 2004, he released Réévolution, which featured a guitar-heavy rock sound.
In 2012, he produced and composed songs for French comedian/singer Lou Doillon for her first album Places.
Étienne Daho is one of the most influential French pop singers of the last four decades. His extensive work has seen him collaborate with many artists, and explore a wide range of musical styles.

enfin...
These lyrics describe a farewell that is surprisingly joyful and optimistic. There are no tears in their eyes as they say goodbye. The moment of farewell is described as the first star twinkles in the sky and the colors of the sky change, creating a serene and peaceful atmosphere. Despite the inevitable separation, there is a strong belief and confidence that they will eventually reunite and experience the same happiness they shared in the past.
The lyrics further suggest that their love is resilient and will overcome any obstacles that may come their way. The "alizés," or trade winds, symbolize the challenges and difficulties they may face, such as heavy clouds and oppressive darkness. However, it is implied that these obstacles will eventually pass, leaving room for brighter days. The singer, unlike the winds, will disappear quietly and without any ceremony into the night, implying a selfless gesture of sacrifice for the sake of their reunion.
There is a sense of closure in these farewell moments, as they express their intention to part ways with no regrets. They choose to vanish discreetly and without looking back, emphasizing their determination to move forward and eagerly await the chance to be together again. The repetition of "sans regrets s'éclipser" reinforces this idea of leaving without any remorse.
The lyrics end with a hopeful vision of their future reunion. The phrases "together, together" and "finally..." convey a strong desire to be united once more. They imagine a future filled with happiness, love, and prosperity as they aim to continue their journey together, hand in hand, and soar above any limitations. The use of words such as "fertiles et féconds" (fertile and fruitful) suggests a desire to create a lasting and beautiful future together, where they can share and transmit their love and happiness to others.
