Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The lyrics to チャットモンチー's song "Ittouseini Narenakatta Kimihe" (To You, Who I Couldn't Become Like) tell the story of someone reflecting on a past relationship and the sadness and confusion that comes with it. The song starts by describing how the person left town on a Monday night, without leaving any trace or sound behind. The singer questions whether it was truly for the best, wondering if the person they are singing about is really happy with the decision they made.
The song then takes a cosmic turn, talking about how there is no sky more beautiful than the one that exists now, surpassing the beauty of a hundred billion light years in the past. The lyrics encourage each individual to emit their unique brilliance and shine brightly. The singer mentions that even if they climb a rooftop and look at the stars, they will still be there, unchanged.
Despite these ponderings, the song acknowledges that simplicity and wonderful things truly exist. It emphasizes that these things are actually easy to understand and appreciate. The lyrics once again highlight the beauty of the present day, surpassing any beauty from a hundred billion light years ago. The song concludes by urging everyone to emit their own brilliance and shine brightly, just like the vastness of the universe.
Overall, the song captures a sense of longing, reflection, and acceptance of the past, while encouraging individual growth and embracing the beauty of the present.
