She met Abi Ofarim, a guitarist and dancer, in 1959 and subsequently married him. With her husband and without him she began to sing Hebrew and international folk songs.
In 1960 Esther got a small role in the film Exodus. In 1961 Esther won the Song Festival in Tel Aviv, where she sang "Saeni imcha bemachol" and "Neama". Two years later, Esther made the 2nd place at the Eurovision Song Contest with "T'en vas pas", representing Switzerland.
From then on, her duo with her then husband Abi Ofarim began take off. In 1966 they had their first hit in Germany with "Noch einen Tanz". Their greatest success in Germany was "Morning of my Life" in 1967, which was written by the Bee Gees. In 1968 the Ofarims had their international breakthrough with "Cinderella Rockefella", which hit the top of the charts in a number of countries including the UK. They played many live concerts in New York and London, and in 1969 they toured around the world.
As result of problems in both business, and personal relations, they divorced in 1970 [1] (in German).
Esther started her solo career with several albums and concerts. In 1984 she played in Joshua Sobol's piece "Ghetto", produced by Peter Zadek in Berlin (Germany). There she sang some songs, including "Frühling" and "Unter deinen weissen Sternen". The play was extremely successful, which was attributed in part to Esther's strong presence.
Since 1998, Esther Ofarim has been performing several concerts each year, especially in Israel and Germany. This includes annual concerts in the Hamburger Kammerspiele.
Ofarim's songs were prominently featured in the 2004 Israeli film, Walk on Water.

NOCH EINEN TANZ
Schatz, geh nach Haus. Dein Mann der ist krank"
"Ist er krank Medizin steht im Schrank.
Komm lieber Franz noch einen Tanz
Dann geh ich Heim
zu meinem Mann
zu meinem armen alten Mann"
"Schatz, geh nach Haus.
Dein' Mann geht es
schlecht"
"Geht's ihm schlecht?
Na mir ist es Recht.
Komm lieber Franz
noch einen Tanz
Dann geh ich
Heim zu meinem Mann
zu meinem armen alten Mann"
"Schatz, geh nach Haus.
Dein Mann der ist tot"
"Ist er tot?
Vorbei Ist die Not.
Komm lieber Franz
noch einen Tanz
Dann geh ich Heim
zu meinem Mann
zu meinem armen
alten Mann"
"Schatz, geh nach Haus.
Gleich wirst du ja reich"
"Was sagst du gleich?"
"Du wirst reich - durch die Leich"
"Oh nein nein lieber Franz
Ka'Zeit für ein Tanz
Jetzt muß ich Heim
zu meinem Mann
dennich von Herzen beweinen kann.
Rob Friedrich
There's a English version
1. Darling, go home, your husband is ill
Is he ill, let 'em give him a pill
Oh come, my dear Franz
Just one more dance
Then I'll go home to my poor old man
Then I'll go home to my poor old man
2. Darling, go home, your husband is worse
Is he worse, well I am no nurse
Oh come, my dear Franz
Just one more dance
Then I'll go home to my poor old man
Then I'll go home to my poor old man
3. Darling, go home, your husband is dead
Is he dead
There's no more to be said
Oh come, my dear Franz
Just one more dance
Then I'll go home to my poor old man
Then I'll go home to my poor old man
4. Darling, go home, the will's to be read
What's that you said?
I said, the will's to be read
Oh no no, my dear Franz
This is no time to dance
I must go weep for my poor old man
I must go weep for my poor old man

She makes it look all so effortless ... what a beautiful singer.
Only discovered her yesterday via a random comment on a Sandy Denny track. Good ol` YouTube.

I recently discovered that Esther Ofarim was giving the occasional performance, do you know where I can get information about her? I have loved her for over 45 years and her music has accompanied me through all my life's most significant moments.
