La Fuite
Georges Chelon Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Commandant, ton rafiot
Navigue dans le noir
Tes croisières sont truquées
Elles ne vont nulle part
Pas de fuite
Tu m'as roulé, marchand
Reprends ton revolver
Il tire des balles à blanc
Remerciements sincères
Pas de fuite
Sorcière, tu m'as fait boire
Quelques philtres d'amour
The song "La Fuite" by Georges Chelon is about different ways of escaping, or running away from, one's problems or troubles. The first verse talks about taking a sailing ship, not to travel and explore new places, but to forget and escape from something. The second verse mentions buying a revolver, not for target practice, but as a means of escape. Similarly, the third verse talks about a woman, not being with her for love, but to seek revenge or escape from something. In the fourth verse, the act of giving money to someone begging is also seen as a form of escape.
The chorus, on the other hand, talks about the need to temporarily stop running away and take a break, to reflect on life and find hope again. The last part of the song criticizes those who deceive and cheat others, telling them to take back their false promises and tools of escape, and instead own up to their actions and face reality.
