Makhlough
Googoosh Lyrics

Overall Meaning

In Googoosh's song "Makhlough," the singer describes a love that has been rekindled by the arrival of someone new in their life. They compare their previous love to ash and darkness, but the new love has brought light and song to their heart. The arrival of this person came at a time when the singer felt as though they were taking their final breath, and this new love brought them back to life. The singer is grateful for this love, stating that it has given them a second chance at life and that they were "dead" before this new love came along.

The singer is so deeply infatuated with this new person that they cannot imagine living without them. They are willing to do anything to keep them in their life, even comparing them to a life-giving force greater than anything else, including God. They feel as though this new love has given them purpose and meaning, and they are happy to have been given a second chance at love. The repetition of the phrase "به عشق تو زنده بودم ، منو کشتی ، دوباره زنده کردی" emphasizes the importance of this new love in the singer's life and the impact it has had on their sense of self.

Overall, "Makhlough" is a heartfelt love song that celebrates the power of love to bring new life into our hearts and minds. The singer is grateful for the second chance they have been given and revels in the joy and light that this new love has brought into their life.

@@namaste91 [Verse 1]
You came and renewed the pain of an old love. (I'm thinking about you again).
You came and revived the ruined desert of my heart.
Before you came, this love had turned to ashes, was not burning anymore.
You came just when there was in my chest the last breath of life.

[Chorus]
I was alive just by the power of my love for you.
Oh, you killed me and raised me from death again.
I loved you, you loved me…
Oh, you killed me and raised me from death again.

[Verse 2]
You are the only reason for me to stay alive.
I do not say anything except your praise.
Your love gave me a new life.
Any true miracle does not have any difference with you. (you are a true miracle since your love raised me from death.)
You are my creator after God.
In my solitude and silence, you are the only voice.

[Chorus]
I was alive just by the power of my love for you.
Oh, you killed me and raised me from death again.
I loved you, you loved me…
Oh, you killed me and raised me from death again.

[Verse 3]
Anything that had happened between us (all the memories of that old love), I had forgotten them all.
Your beautiful name had become faded in my book.
I had forgotten all those fine, better days.
But you came and throw a new sunny warmth and heat on the coldness of sunset. (you were like a new warm sunrise after a long cold sunset).
Your love gave me a new life.
Any true miracle does not have any difference with you. (you are a true miracle since your love raised me from death.)
You are my creator after God.
In my solitude and silence, you are the only voice.

I often wonder how my life would have turned out, if my family remained in Iran. We left, shortly after the revolution!!! Not a day goes by that I don’t live in nostalgia of Iran. Us Armenians, had found refuge in Iran. Sadly, we were killed by the turks, but we were loved and protected by Iranians. I was always conflicted how is it turks are Muslims and wanted us dead, but Muslim Iranians respected us. That is a true sentiment that religion isn’t the catalyst to my quandary, but rather Iranians are absolutely beautiful people. Iran joon, I shall always miss you and your warmth!
God Bless you all ♥️
