Vieux monde pourri, tu crèves, vieux monde pourri,
Et tu as choisi tes maladies,
On a réussi, mon frère, on a réussi
The song "Notre société" by Michel Fugain & Le Big Bazar speaks about the success of building a community that belongs to the people. The opening lines speak about the successful harvest of crops, which in turn is heavy, signifying the power of the unity and the success of the community. The lyrics describe the journey of building a society where there are no bosses, employees, soldiers, officers, lawyers, or bankers - a place where everyone is equal.
The second stanza speaks about the fruitful union of the people with the earth, how they have worked hard to make the land fertile, and how they have collectively reaped its benefits. The song discusses the stark contrast between the old decaying world filled with sickness, and their society where they embrace life and live freely. The songwriters urge everyone to join their society, leave their mundane lives behind and enjoy the freedom their society offers.
The song's lyrics are very powerful, and the music is upbeat, which makes it seem like a joyous song. However, the lyrics represent a utopian dream of equality, freedom, and togetherness. The songwriters' message is that with the right effort and mindset, it is possible to create a society that is free from corruption, inequalities and other social injustices that hold people down.
