Ainsi va la vie
Michel Fugain & Le Big Bazar Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Overall Meaning

These lyrics from "Ainsi va la vie" by Michel Fugain & Le Big Bazar discuss the ups and downs of life and the importance of cherishing moments of happiness. The song reflects on the journey of life, from difficult paths to the inevitable end, also referred to as the "black hole of oblivion."

The first verse talks about the challenging roads one must navigate from birth to the dark abyss of forgetfulness. This suggests that life is filled with hardships and obstacles that individuals must face. However, amidst these difficulties, the song emphasizes that one must not miss out on moments of joy. The lyrics assert that it is essential to live happily and passionately, even to the point of dying for it. The mention of the immortal soul implies that afterlife might reveal the truth about the significance and value of such joyful moments.

The second paragraph acknowledges that despite our efforts and words, every day of our lives is uncertain. It suggests that each day is lived as if it were a reprieve, a borrowed time. The lyrics reiterate the importance of not missing out on joyful moments, reinforcing the message that happiness should be embraced in every moment and without reservation. The line "Sois heureux jusqu'à en crever" means "Be happy until you burst."

The chorus repeats the idea that each day is a reprieve, emphasizing the uncertainty and fragility of life. The lyrics stress once again the necessity of seizing opportunities for happiness and not taking them for granted. By saying "Ainsi va la vie" (such is life), the song implies that this is the nature of existence and we must make the most of it while we can.

In summary, these lyrics of "Ainsi va la vie" serve as a reminder to appreciate and treasure the small moments of joy in life. They emphasize that life is filled with challenges and uncertainties, but in the face of such difficulties, it is crucial to find happiness and live passionately. The song encourages listeners to seize each day as if it were their last, cherishing each moment and living life to the fullest.

@lucarnetrange

Merci.

A beautiful and evocative album which brings back my childhood days in Montguyon, Bordeaux, and Cap Ferret in the mid 70s. Fugain is an underrated genius.
