She was born in Chipiona, Cádiz, Spain and was nicknamed "The Greatest".
Jurado began performing flamenco at a very young age, debuting on the big screen in 1962 with "Los guerrilleros", acting alongside Manolo Escobar. She also played a main role in 1966's "Proceso a una estrella" and 1971's "Una chica casi decente". While temporarily living in Argentina, the Spanish diva participated in a successful musical called "La zapatera prodigiosa", based on Federico García Lorca's work. After teaming with composer Manuel Alejandro, Rocío Jurado became a major and beloved figure on the Latin music scene, acclaimed throughout America and Spain after releasing "Muera el amor" and "Señora", among other hits.

Quieto
Rocio Jurado Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
relájate del todo.
Quieto,
intenta no pensar.
Deja,
que yo quiera mi modo.
Deja,
no trates de mandar.
refrena tus impulsos.
Quieto,
mejor con suavidad.
Deja,
que yo controle todo.
Deja,
no hay prisas en llegar.
Estas horas, entregados,
cuerpo a cuerpo, entrelazados,
con el ritmo acelerado
de nuestra respiración...
Esta noche inolvidable,
que aprendimos a ser amantes,
nunca debe terminarse
mientras vivamos los dos.
Quieto,
enciéndeme un cigarro.
Quieto,
charlemos otra vez.
Deja,
has estado perfecto.
Deja,
me hiciste más mujer.
Quieto,
bebamos una copa.
Quieto,
te necesito más.
Deja,
que pasen los minutos.
deja,
ya duerme la ciudad.
Quieto.
The lyrics to Rocío Jurado's song "Quieto" seem to be a conversation between two lovers who have just finished making love. The person singing is telling their partner to quiet down and relax after the intense encounter. The lyrics use imperatives such as "quiet" and "let me have my way" to convey a sense of control and dominance, while also using soft language such as "quietly" and "with smoothness" to suggest tenderness and care. The lyrics suggest a desire to prolong the moment and to continue to revel in the pleasure and intimacy shared between the two lovers.
The second half of the song shifts from the immediacy of the present moment to the larger context of their relationship. The lyrics describe the night as unforgettable and express a hope that their love will continue to grow and flourish. The repeated use of "quiet" and "leave it" throughout the song suggests a hesitation, perhaps a fear of losing what has been gained or a concern about the future. Overall, the song is a combination of passionate desire and anxious uncertainty, painting a complex and nuanced picture of a relationship.
