Hadad was born in Hadera, Israel. Her real name is Sara Hodedatov (שרה חודדטוב). She comes from a musical family.
Since she was 8 years old she started giving performances at a local club as a child prodigy playing classical music on the piano. She didn't tell her parents, and when they found out two years later the performances were over. In that period she taught herself to play the organ, guitar, accordion and darbuka among others.
When she was 15 she joined the Hadera Youth Band. This was the first step to her solo career, during which many of her songs topped the Israeli charts. Israeli Television selected her to represent her country in the Eurovision Song Contest 2002 with the song Light a candle. There were some requests to disqualify this song because of the political situation in Israel, but Eurovision has no rules requiring such disqualification. Her final result was 12th place.
Sarit Hadad has been a student at the Democratic School of Hadera.

עליך ועליי
Sarit Hadad Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The lyrics of Sarit Hadad's song עליך ועליי convey a sense of longing and nostalgia, as well as a desire to hold onto a past love. The first verse advises against rushing to move on from the past, with the lines "don't hurry to leave, don't hurry to dismiss, what was yesterday, a large beat in the body." This suggests that the past relationship had a significant impact on the singer and is not something to be easily forgotten.
The chorus repeats the phrase "עליך ועלי" (on you and on me), which can be interpreted as a shared responsibility for the relationship's ups and downs. The singer acknowledges that they could write a whole life story about the relationship, and even though it stands in the middle of the street, their heart is still wet with emotion. These lines suggest that despite the passage of time, the relationship still holds a powerful place in the singer's heart.
The second verse contrasts the past happiness with a present darkness, as the singer laments the transformation of the once-rosy outlook into a gloomier reality. The light in their heart has gone out, and they know they cannot return to what once was. However, they remain captivated by the frozen image of their love, suggesting that the memories are still strong, and the desire to love remains unchanged.
Overall, the song projects a mixture of emotions, including heartache, nostalgia, and longing. The song's lyrics reflect the complexity of relationships, both past, and present.
