My first instinct as captain was yelling one word. "Fire!"

*Boom*

The launchers fired over the ocean waves! The missiles soared across the sky at the speed of sound, leaving their soul-shaking roars in their wake, impacting on the steel armor on the hostile frigate, turning the ship into a massive fireball.

A sailor found something on the radar. "Sir! New contacts on radar! Its a flight of enemy fighters! Don't know what kind!"

"Launch the fighters! Prepare to...Hold the hell up! Two Steps From Hell just uploaded a new video!"

Ah, this was the port in all its glory! A bustling harbor crowded with ships from all over the world, unloading boxes of food, cloth, weapons, and packs of travelers coming from all around to witness the event that was to happen here today. The streets were filled with people milling about, trading wares and words with one another, going from place to place, but today, attracted to the one monument that stood as the center and focus of all the city, its crown jewel.

The colosseum was vast and elaborately constructed, with several floors consisting of rows upon rows of seats, on the whole, able to seat tens of thousands. On the bottom, doors were open for the people coming in and out of the arena itself; directly across from the main entrance stood the high seats of the observing council. And even its size would be overtaken by the large clusters of people entering the seats, all there for the same spectacle. On that day beginning, chosen both by tournament and the people's preference, new members would join the world's council. After paying their fare, the rows filled one by one with the awaiting spectators, and among them, a fair-sized group was murmuring amongst themselves as they climbed their way to higher seats.

"Head count here...okay how conspicuous is our number," said the tallest boy of the group.

"Well spread yourselves out in such a way that it won't look like we're too tightly knit. But don't go so far away that we wouldn't be able to reach each other should anything happen...let's just hope that this all goes smoothly," said the boy at the front of the group, with all of them looking back and forth to see if anyone was taking notice.

A brown-haired girl standing in front adjusted the small shawl on her neck. "What about these? What'll people think that we all are wearing them?"

"Well with luck people will think it's a mountainous fashion," said another boy with thick blond hair standing side by side with the other at front, seemingly in dual command. "Better people inquire about that then mark us out for dead." And so they filed into their rows in the second floor from the top.

Entertainment was preparing in the arena space down below. A chorus of voices could be heard singing as battle drums were beat and strings were strung in preparation. In the center, twelve men and women did an elaborate dance before the main event, in perfect time with the music on the sidelines. It only rose higher and more majestically as the last of the crowd filed in, all to be brought to a sudden stop as the high seats opposite the entrance filled. One man at the center stood at the fore of the balcony, holding his hand up for silence, and signifying the commencement of what was to come.

The wrath of the ocean waves smashing into the starboard side of the brig not only knocked our ship around like a victim of a group of scum, but shook it and its sailors to the core in such a way that would make even the most legendary of sailors regret eating lunch that day. I was standing at the pillar of the mast, bracing against the cold wood to keep myself from falling. When I wiped the rain from my eyes, I noticed the rope to the sails was flapping around like it was loose. My only instinct was getting to it. I released my grip on the pillar, leaving a dry spot on the wood from bracing there for so long. Every slow, careful step forward, my legs trembled under the weight of a mixture of my body and its weariness. I eventually stumbled to the starboard rail. I extended my left arm and reached for the rope of the sails, regaining my balance before wrapping the rope around the soaking wet wooden railing to secure it. When I finished, it was only habit to yell it to the captain. "Ropes secure, Cap'n!"

He didn't respond. He was too busy fighting the wheel against a powerful wind that wished to take our journey to an unknown destination. He was spinning the wheel to the left, but the ship was being forced into being dragged the other way by the wind. I was still clenching onto to the slippery rail, trying not to fall overboard as the ship was getting tossed around by the wrath of nature. When I wiped the rain from my face, I looked off in the distance, trying to see if anything was coming. My dizzy eyes grew at the sight. A suspicious silhouette made a foggy appearance in the distance. Rectangular shapes bunched up, a line going straight up and down, and by the time I made out anything more, It was close enough to see the dark color of wood beneath it. It was a frigate, and even worse: It was sailing right for us. "Cap'n, look! Off the starboard!" I didn't even bother looking back to make sure he heard me.

The captain's voice rang over the deck. "It's the pirate hunters! Load up all cannons on starboard! We'll strike before they're ready!"

I waited for the ship's rocking to slow down, I ran with my head down, my arms spread out, and my legs bent, and all to keep from falling over. I made my way to the bow, where my unloaded cannon was just anxiously waiting to be fired. I grabbed a cannonball from my pile in the flooded crate to the left of the cannon. I shoved the cannonball in the back of the barrel, poured the gunpowder in, inserted the rope fuse, and closed the back hatch. "Cannon loaded, Cap'n!"

The gravel in his voice only filled the crew with eagerness to wipe those ugly, toothless smiles off the enemies' faces. "Man all battlestations! If they wish to send us to Davy Jones' Locker, we'll make damn sure they meet us down there to battle in the afterlife! All in favor, say Aye!"

I, along with the crew, balled up my fist and raised it high as we all shouted, "Aye!"

The crew confidently ran to their spots, ready to take down anything that was stupid enough to trifle with us. I aimed my cannon towards the wooden pillar that held up their mast, with intentions of immobilizing the ship. I waited very impatiently for the order to fire, with my hands itching to light the fuse. The captain pointed his sword off to the enemy ship, finally letting the word spit from his mouth. "FIRE!!!!"
