Varala me varala, srce slomila
Varala me varala, srce slomila
Grkinjo znaj, svemu je kraj
Zbogom mi vie se ne vraćaj
Grkinjo znaj, svemu je kraj
Zbogom mi vie se ne vraćaj
Varala me varala, mala grkinja
Varala me varala, duu ranila
Varala me varala, duu ranila
Varala me varala, mala grkinja
Varala me varala, sve mi uzela
Varala me varala, sve mi uzela
The lyrics to "Grkinja" by Thompson depict the betrayal and heartbreak caused by a woman known as the "Grkinja" (Greek woman). The repetition of the phrase "varala me varala" (betrayed me, betrayed me) throughout the song emphasizes the deep pain and anger the singer feels towards this woman, who has not only shattered his heart but also taken everything from him. The use of the word "mala" (little) to describe the Grkinja is interesting, as it suggests that despite her seemingly small stature, she wields a powerful and devastating impact on the singer's life.
The chorus of the song, which translates to "Grkinja, know that everything is over, don't come back to me anymore, Grkinja, know that everything is over, goodbye," further highlights the finality and irreparable damage caused by the Grkinja's actions. It is interesting to note that the song is sung in the second person, with the singer addressing the Grkinja directly, as if he is still trying to communicate his pain and frustration to her even though she is no longer present in his life.
Overall, "Grkinja" is a powerful song that captures the intense emotions of heartbreak and betrayal. Through its use of repetition, direct address, and vivid imagery, it effectively conveys the pain and frustration of the singer's experience.
