Putnice stani, ni koraka dalje
Ovdje je palo golubova jato
A bili su za dom, bili samo za to
Pomoli se, onda dalje kreni
Na ovom su mjestu pali golubovi bijeli
S ognjem pakla tu su se sreli
A bili su za dom spremni
Bijeli kriz opomenu salje
Putnice stani, ni koraka dalje
Ovdje je palo golubova jato
A bili su za dom, bili samo za to
Pomoli se, onda dalje kreni
Na ovom su mjestu pali golubovi bijeli
S ognjem pakla tu su se sreli
Ostala su polomljena krila
A bili su za dom spremni
S ognjem pakla tu su se sreli
Ostala su polomljena krila
A bili su za dom spremni
The lyrics of Thompson's song Bijeli Golubovi, which translates to "White Doves," are a poignant tribute to fallen soldiers who died fighting for their homeland. The opening lines, "Bijeli kriz opomenu salje, putnice stani, ni koraka dalje" meaning "the white cross sends a warning, traveler stop, not another step," suggest that the song is about a place of remembrance for those who have died in battle. The next lines reveal that a flock of doves was also lost in this place of conflict, symbolizing the innocent lives that are always caught in the crossfire of war.
The repetition of the lines "A bili su za dom, bili samo za to," meaning "they were for the homeland, only for that," emphasizes the dedication and sacrifice of those who have died for their country. The prayerful call to "Pomoli se" or "pray" acknowledges that the fallen soldiers have transcended this world, but it also encourages the living to continue to remember them and honor their memory.
Overall, Thompson's song Bijeli Golubovi is a moving tribute to the sacrifices made in times of war, and it reminds us of the lasting impact that these conflicts have on individuals, families, and communities.

A bili su za dom, bili samo za to
They were for home, for nothing else
Pomoli se, onda dalje kreni
Say a prayer, then move on
