L'Aventurier
Indochine Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Tel l'aventurier solitaire
The lyrics of "L'Aventurier" by Indochine tell the story of the heroic actions of Bob Morane, a fictional character created by French authors. The song recounts different adventures of Bob Morane as he travels through various exotic places in search of treasures and fighting against the bad guys. From his search of the "Ombre Jaune" to stopping the Caribbean traffic, from rescuing his friend Bill Ballantine from crocodiles to imprisoning pirates, Bob Morane takes on every challenge on his way.
The lyrics also depict Bob Morane's love life, as he finds himself in the bed of Miss Clark and imprisoned by the Sultan of Jarawak. The chorus sings about Bob Morane as the ultimate hero, facing every challenge with bravery and courage, whether he is against vicious jackals or skilled warriors. The song ends by establishing Bob Morane as the ultimate adventurer, the king of the earth.
Indochine's "L'Aventurier" was first released in 1982 and became an instant hit in France. Since then, it has become a cult classic and one of Indochine's most popular songs. The band's main inspiration for the song was the Bob Morane novel series, which was very popular in France in the 1960s and 70s. The song's success even caused the publishers of the Bob Morane books to reprint them, due to the increased demand.
