Formed in 1992, they are fronted by vocalist Jay Kay, and were prominent in the London-based funk and acid jazz movement of the 1990s. They built on their acid jazz sound in their early releases and later drew from rock, disco, electronic and Latin music genres. Lyrically, the group has addressed social and environmental justice. Kay has remained as the only original member through several line-up changes.

The band made their debut under Acid Jazz Records but subsequently found mainstream success under Sony. While under this label, three of their albums have charted at number one in the UK, including Emergency on Planet Earth (1993), Synkronized (1999) and A Funk Odyssey (2001). The band's 1998 single, "Deeper Underground", was also number one in their native country.

As of 2017, Jamiroquai had sold more than 26 million albums worldwide. Their third album, Travelling Without Moving (1996), received a Guinness World Record as the best-selling funk album in history. The music video for its lead single, "Virtual Insanity", also contributed to the band's success. The song was named Video of the Year at the 1997 MTV Video Music Awards and earned the band a Grammy Award in 1998.

61 here. Some say D.L. are DANGEROUS. Next level genuises. Elite, genteel musicians from another stratosphere. Just downright DISRESPECTFUL - and I mean that with the utmost respect to them. Who else would brilliantly re-imagine an iconic legendary song with an interlude featuring a DOUBLE BELL EUPHONIUM?! I mean...who does that? D.L. and Cory Wong and friends...that's who. And it works! Kudos to the collaboration with Cory and the WongNotes. (most of the members) These young masters of their craft are bringing it back! Unfortunately, I fear we will never hear this type of awesomeness on mainstream media or platforms, because folks today won't recognize that D.L. are expertly playing what we heard decades ago......MUSIC. D.L. gives me hope though. Right now, they really are at the top of the game with what they do. That's saying something (from an EWF, Chicago, Queen, Journey, etc., fan)

I only cry at Joe Dispenza's meditations when I'm working on the chakras, but this piece of yours also completely ripped me apart and put me back together again. This is such a wonderful experience that I had with you that there are not enough words. This is another musical adaptation from another universe entirely.
It's no surprise that the great QJ signed them before anyone else did.

In another funk song Cory starts off prominently in the mix providing funk rhythm only to be dropped way back.

I must say that what I have recently heard has truly left me in awe. The level of skill and musicianship displayed is beyond compare. Each note and chord is played with precision and passion, creating a truly mesmerizing sound. The vocals, in particular, are simply astonishing. The range, power, and emotion behind each note is truly breathtaking.

Most people steer clear away from covering Michael Jackson's music because Michael set the bar so high that many musicians can't match it, can't top it or equal it. And, of course, there have been a few exceptions (Boyz II Men, Floetry, Justin Timberlake). Most musicians are not humble to begin with. Anything that they do, THEY themselves want ALL of the accolades and approval for. When doing Michael's music, you'll instantly be compared to him and now you're in his shadow. Again, most musicians don't want that and can't hit the notes that Michael could sing or dance like him, so most of them back away from covering Michael's body of music. Dirty Loops and Cory Wong gave a truly loving and wonderful performance, though.

I love this 12/8 shuffle feel...its so damnn cool for what they are doing across the bass groove. And the breaks are clean. I have never spent so much time with my mouth wide open!!!! Absolutely astonishing. From the breakdown in I was completely in awe. And This isn’t even the first of them I’ve seen. This tune is so much more than I expected! Code progression, arrangement, Bass Line ever so
beautiful ,then Cory Wong finally made himself one of major artists like modern day Nile Rodgers!
He really added tight cutting onto the song.
