Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Asha Bhosle's song Aata Kasali Chori Ga speak about a woman's love for a man who is the king of her city. The woman asserts that her love for him is otherworldly or spiritual (alaukik). She knows the way to his heart (disha jaanti chaari), but wonders how she can steal it (aata kasali chori ga). She acknowledges that he is the king of the city, but declares that he is hers alone.

The woman goes on to describe how she and the king share a beautiful bond. She talks about the way his eyes sparkle like flowers (phulat disti tyaache dole), and how his scent is like an ever-present companion (sugandhaat sahwas darvaale). She speaks of all her memories with him, and how they shine like jewels (kanti maajhi goori). She reiterates her desire to possess his heart, but is unsure how to go about it.

As the song progresses, the woman becomes more resolute in her love for the king. She says she will keep walking towards him (vaavarta mi tyaachya maage), step by step, until he notices her. She believes that destiny will bring them together (sudhaiv jaage padapaadavar), and that any obstacle in their path will be removed (saatpadi la vilam ka mag toran vilaso daari). The song ends with a repeat of the chorus, underscoring the woman's burning desire to win over her king's heart.
