Release Me
Engelbert Humperdinck Lyrics

Please release me, let me go
For I don't love you anymore
To waste our lives would be a sin
Release me and let me love again

I have found a new love, dear
And I will always want her near
Her lips are warm while yours are cold
Release me, darling, let me go

(Please release me, let me go)
For I don't love you anymore
(To waste my life would be a sin)
So release me and let me love again

Please release me, can't you see
You'd be a fool to cling to me
To live our lives would bring us pain
So release me and let me love again
(Let me love, let me go)

And, I'm not talking popularity contests here. I'm talking about technical proficiency. I'm glad you found Engelbert at a young age when he has 60 years older.

not sure

this song carries a tone of haunting ambience that I absolutely love. does anyone else feel the same way?

It's true, that's what a good arranger can do. Engelbert has always given huge credit to the arrangers he worked with early in his career, and with good reason.

Yes!!

I totally agree with you. I love this song even more now decades later than when it first came out and I love the way it ends with those backup singers It goes right through me!

Ronald Martin

Yes, it's a good song, classic

Yes I feel it too, I have since I was a child when I first heard it. I was that kid in the Seventies that love Johnny Mathis and Engelbert Humperdinck. I also was obsessed with Billie Holiday. My grandmother(who was a musician) said I was an old jazz man trapped in a toddler's body.
