The Lamb
by John Tavener

Little Lamb who made thee
Dost thou know who made thee
Gave thee life & bid thee feed.
By the stream & o'er the mead;
Gave thee clothing of delight,
Softest clothing wooly bright;
Gave thee such a tender voice,
Making all the vales rejoice!
Little Lamb who made thee
Dost thou know who made thee

Little Lamb I'll tell thee,
Little Lamb I'll tell thee!
He is called by thy name,
For he calls himself a Lamb:
He is meek & he is mild,
He became a little child:
I a child & thou a lamb,
We are called by his name.
Little Lamb God bless thee.
Little Lamb God bless thee.

One of the most beautiful things I've ever heard in my life.

Little Lamb, who made thee? Dost thou know who made thee?
Gave thee life, and bid thee feed By the stream and o’er the mead;
Gave thee clothing of delight, Softest clothing, woolly, bright;
Gave thee such a tender voice, Making all the vales rejoice?
Little Lamb, who made thee? Dost thou know who made thee?

@Nasir Djedi Wrong way round - William Blake wrote 'The Lamb' as a poem a good century and a half before John Tavener set it to music.

The guy could have made this so much more perfect by making the words go along with the chord change but no he had to make it go "who-oo made thee" instead of "who made thee." That goddamn thee is trailing behind

This is so beautiful. I think it's the most beautiful thing I ever heard in my life. And it's a joy to watch the expressions on the women's faces. They are in pure exstasy. This is why I think there is still hope in mankind. A man who can compose this and singers who can deliver such a beautiful performance. This is the music that will accompany me on my way to the darkness.

@IP Not Found Good question. Good resemblance?

Ah yes, the dazzling darkness. (St. Dionisius the Areopagite.) Do not be afraid if you are in Christ. Only surround yourself with close friends and/or family if you desire to do so, and ask them to read the Psalms and Gospels to you. Also, Christ will help you. If you're Orthodox Christian, ask them and the Saints to pray for you. His Holy Mother is especially strong, and she knows how dark it can be unless you're in Christ where His Light shines, and the darkness can't overwhelm it. I, too, share your desire for a painless, blameless and peaceful death and for a good defense at the fearful judgement seat of Christ. I've also have had two ndes, and His Love and Mercy are so much greater than we can possibly know. God Bless you. (Btw, I use bing, because it's much easier to find passages, and St. Dionisius is mentioned in the Book of Acts, and he wrote a short work called "The Dazzling Darkness", and it's a very short read. I benefited greatly from it.)
