Takeuchi started her own career with a single "Modotte-Oide, Watashi no Jikan" in 1978. From the late 1970s to the early '80s, she has recorded 5 albums and several singles including top-ten hit "Fushigi na Peach Pie". Those materials have featured dozens of Japanese and North American distinguished songwriters, instrumentalists, and producers, such as David Foster, Jim Keltner, Jay Graydon, Steve Lukather, Jeff Porcaro, David Hungate, Kazuhiko Kato, Kunihiko Kase, Shigeru Suzuki, Takashi Matsumoto, and her future long-term partner Tatsuro Yamashita.
"Heart to Heart", one of her songs co-written by Roger Nichols and released in 1980, was recorded by the Carpenters two years later, and became the last recording for the late Karen Carpenter.
In 1981, Takeuchi married to a singer-songwriter Tatsuro Yamashita, and stopped her career temporarily owing to the pregnancy. After her comeback to the Japanese music industry in 1984, she has accomplished huge commercial success more than when she was single. From that year to the present, she has recorded 6 successful studio albums that mainly consisted of her self-penned songs, and all of them have reached #1 on the Japanese Oricon chart.
As a singer-songwriter, she has produced 8 top-ten hit singles on the Oricon, including "Single Again", "Kokuhaku", "Junai Rhapsody", "Konya wa Hearty Party" and her only #1 hit "Camouflage".

September
September
September (September)
September (September)
September
September
September (September)
September (September)
"Love"
September
September
September
September
Say goodbye in September, ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh
September, la la la la la la
September, la la la la la la
La la la la la la
La la la la la la

The song September by 竹内まりや is a nostalgic ballad about the end of summer and the beginning of autumn. The opening lines describe the singer chasing after a train while wearing a mustard-colored shirt. Despite knowing that it’s wrong, she turns around to gaze at the hidden city that’s gradually turning into a drawing with colored crayons. Tears welling up in her eyes, she knows that she has an appointment with someone older. The chorus starts with the name of the song followed by the line “and you have changed in September,” indicating a significant change in the singer's relationship status. The cool breeze and the dying sun weaken the remaining warmth in her heart, giving the impression that the relationship has also cooled down.
The second verse continues with the singer wanting to meet this person to ask for their help. Regretting her actions, she utters the phrase “return him to me,” knowing that her weakness prevents her from doing so. The second chorus repeats the same theme of change and parting, highlighting the autumn season’s seasonality, the most heartbreaking month. The bridge is a melancholic admission that even with all the words in the dictionary about love, they only cut out the word ‘goodbye,’ which is indicative of the end of this relationship.
One interesting fact about this song is that the lyrics and the melody were written by 竹内まりや herself, and it was released as a single in 1986. The song sold over 450,000 copies, making it one of the best-selling singles in Japan. It also won the Gold Disc Award for the best song of the year. The song has been covered by various artists over the years, including Yui, CHEMISTRY, and Aimer.
Another interesting fact is that the song was featured in the Japanese film Kamikaze Girls(Shimotsuma Monogatari) and the Korean film Wonderful Nightmare(Saeng-il-il), introducing it to a wider audience. The song's lyrics have been described as inspirational and have helped people through breakups and difficult times. September has become a symbol of the end of summer and the beginning of autumn in Japan, giving the song a particular seasonal significance.
Other facts about September by 竹内まりや include that it was featured in the anime film Your Name, and it was also the opening theme song for the drama series based on the manga Saki. The song has been interpreted differently over the years, with some people associating it with the end of a romance, while others connect it to personal changes, such as leaving a much-loved job or moving to another city. The song's music video is a simple recording of the artist singing the song in front of a black background, allowing the listener's focus to be solely on the lyrics.
Regarding the chords to the song, here they are in the key of C major:
Verse: Am - F - G - C
Chorus: C - G - F - G - C
Bridge: Am - Dm - G - C

I feel so sad to see old videos with lots of views and comments get taken down, the videos didn't only share the music but also a way for people to express all those emotions.
@idc.28
I thought I was the only one that noticed, I was surprised to see them gone, I keep coming to those because old city pop songs are not on spotify, they even deleted the live one (╥﹏╥), thankfully there's another one
@jaffa3717
Exactly. Losing the comment section is the worst part of a video being taken down
