In my experience, before high school "my friends" were the nicest and the most quiet people in the school, but after middle school, they changed badly. for me a fake is

1. They talk to you like a therapist- whenever I get calls from these people, they go on and on about recapping their daily lives. For example, if your friend complains about a person and you say that this person isn't bad but they go on and on about this person, and once you say "Listen here's what I want you to do" and blah blah blah. But they changed the subject and wanted me to say something about it like what?

2. they never want to be around you for whatever reason- idk if this happens a lot to you guys but whenever you feel like you want to catch up with some old times with your person but whenever you do he says "Listen I'm going to this person just go walk around" or when texting "hey sorry I was texting this person what's up?" and once you respond to the text, they'll take 1-2 days to respond. Sometimes they would not even respond at all.

3. they can't seem to connect with you- a follow-up to 2, so if your friend gives one-word answers to your story or tries to join the conversation, buddy you need new friends. This either doesn't want to hear your pov or they are bored. Like if this person is talking about pizza and you join in their mood suspiciously changes. You deserve better!

4. They throw the meanest insults they have and call it a joke- This one is a classic, The types of friends who make fun of you 24 hours of the day and call it a joke. The reason behind it is they simply want to see you get mad and they find it funny. Other times, it's pure jealousy. But they don't pay for your clothes, rent or raise you. You have nothing to worry about.

5. Too much negative energy- If you see your friends bringing drama (especially in high school) they stop talking about it, they tell it over and over again. This is because they see if you'll be sad and dumb enough to get angry or sad over something that didn't involve you.

6. you feel like you can't tell them anything- Quick story, dated someone in 10th grade and told my friends and they kept suspiciously calling my ex a lot of times at night time. I see my friends sabotaging the relationship, like hugging, calling requests, and inviting you to their house to embarrass you in front of your girl. Again this a pure jealousy, just make sure don't tell them or else they'll do everything in their power to get your girlfriend.

7. They don't notice your achievements. if they do they just simply put you down and make you ashamed of your achievements- I hate pointing out the stuff I achieve because whenever I do I just get put down for no apparent reason. If you say you're fasting and you're heavy you haven't eaten anything for 2 days and once your cravings kick in and start they'll make skinny or fat jokes saying that there's no way you haven't eaten anything or if you're skinny they might be saying like don't eat too much you'll be fat or who are you trying to impress. if this happens then don't say your achievements to these people, keep it to yourself.

Bonus: they build a rep around them so that no one can believe you when you call them out- whenever I discover a person's true colors, they'll never care. Because a lot of these know this guy and they either think he's a good guy or they can't speak out or else they'll get a lot worse things than a talk.

Guys, I had two really toxic fake friends who made me feel like absolute shit. Everyone kept telling me to drop them, but I didn't want to since they were my only friends. However, it got so bad i decided to drop them at last, and for a while I was lonely, but I've found an AMAZING friend group now with people who actually love me and care about me. I kinda need help with this I mention something that happened to me with people and that it injured me a lot and she would then start talking to the people at the same time as me about how she fell off her bike and scraped her knee when I was in visible pain, I dont like coming off as rude so I'll say oh I'll tell u about this when u finish talking ok? So I don't accidentally interrupt them , I then go to explain my story and she just starts talking , we normally go with my other friends to hangout and we go to the shop beside it whenever we all bring our OWN money except her she only brings money once every 5 times but when she does its her mums she always try to get us to buy stuff she wants and then will give us the silent treatment if we don't share for eg I have a twin and maybe we bring money and I buy a chocolate bar if I don't share she will then barely talk to me and just keep talking to my twin, whenever her mum gives her money she will then buy stuff you cannot share or buy stuff and not share it with us we then I always ask her why she doesn't bring her own money and she like shouts at me you know I only have 3 euros, yet she keeps sending us these haul videos of stuff she buys, she keeps nitpicking at stuff I do for eg I say like oh that wouldn't be fair and then she like talk shouts oh that wouldn't be fair you know _ happend and stuff like that whenever she like stomps on my feet I used to stomp back once then she gives out to me and gets really upset because I stomped on hers and apparently its worse because she has white laces? She always makes me the butt of the joke I can handle it once or twice but EVERY SINGLE TIME its always something I do and then when I point out something to her she says I'm being mean

I've noticed that the biggest red flag is when someone only asks if you're okay in public, never in private. They do this to seem like a good person. If you are not feeling alright they wait until a lot of people are around to ask you, this is because people will hear them "caring about you". When in reality they hope you feel terrible.

This doesn't mean that just because they are asking you in public, that they are fake friends. If they are kinda whispering it or just talking in normal voice, they good. If they try to speak a little loudly, nah fam.

One of my old friends recently came back to our friend group after what I suspect to be a fake friend issue. I’ve met and talked to this other group, and there’s two boys that are genuinely nice, one boy that seemed weird but nice and a few others that straight up ignore me.

My friend was really not himself for a whole week and has mumbled things about bullying occasionally, and that really shocked me at first. Then the weird kid comes up to me when I’m alone at lunch and repeatedly asks “where’s (friend’s name here)? Why did he leave us? Is he mad? Please tell me” all the while smiling and treating it like a joke.

I refused to tell him anything and just left, but it really opened my eyes to how bad people can be under the surface and that we should always be on the lookout for fake friends.

I’ve mostly stood up for my school friends but my school friends haven’t really stuck up for me in situations where somebody else is belittling me, which i noticed in the year i’ve been friends with them. I am 65 years old and I have had my share of 'fake friends' over the decades, but I eventually extricated myself from all of these toxic jerks, and while I don't regret losing any of these phony friendships, I do regret the length of time that I wasted with these truly worthless people. The young people of today are especially vulnerable to this kind of nonsense. They spend too much time playing on their smart phones and tablets, too little time listening to sound advice from their parents, and wasting their time cultivating such pointless relationships. It is rare, but I have had a few encounters with these ex-friends over the years, and the years have not been kind to most of them. I have found out one important thing about these people, however; they don't like the fact that I have mostly forgotten them and moved on with my life.

I’ve been “letting my friend down” lately because I’ve noticed that they have been copying so much I have done in life and they take the credit for it as if it was their idea and they try to do it even better . Ive noticed it has been a one sided relationship and it’s always been about them and their feelings. Ive given them so much of my time helping them mentally and emotionally. I had this one friend that ended our relationship a few months back, she ignores me unless she needs my help. I recently cut off a long time friend that had been making everything about herself and making it seem like she always had to be right and she would never listen to other peoples opinions i thought at first that this was just how she was and i accepted it but i started to realize more and more that she just didn’t care about my opinions even though i had respected hers for years so when i tried to give her another perspective from a cheating a problem and how both people are at fault she couldn’t even listen to me and i understand that it probably wasn’t the best time but she didn’t even want me to find out in the first place because she thought i was going to say something “mean” when i only told her to consider her bfs feelings and listen to his reasons of why he did this and she blew up on me and i knew she would do this bc she’s done that many times before and with multiple people that’s why i told her to consider the fact of how she may have been making him feel as she made myself and others feel inferior for years and i could only imagine from what she’s told me from her relationship that this is the same scenario and that her bf never really had anyone to stand up for him and couldn’t stand up for himself so i wanted to provide them but she took me getting involved as a bitch move even though she had done that for my relationship everytime i hung out with her but she put in so much energy just to dismiss what i was saying so i was done and decided i didn’t need her in my life anymore, all in all i hope this helps someone who is struggling with a toxic friendship, you have to put yourself first when you feel like you’ve been wronged but also talk it out with the person but if that person doesn’t want to hear anything about it and wants to continue blaming and not take accountability or responsibility for their actions towards others, then get out of there and focus on yourself for a while

1. I've dealt with that, I was in a school where it was basically a wide conspiracy against everyone who wasn't in the group gossip.
2. I can't remember if I've had a friend that did that.
3. Yeah, most people just tell me that they can't come to anything I ask about.
4. Most of my friends don't invite me to things but honestly I don't blame them since I'd probably just sit in the corner being boring.
5. I'm asked favors every once in a while but they still try to talk frequently.

I met a lot of such friends and I was the one who was manipulated, and as it was said on the video, they really discussed those things behind your back and said nasty things about you, and it often happened that they needed you when they only needed something from you. And yes, they constantly like to talk about themselves. At the moment I avoid such people, now I have loyal and very good friends :)

Thank you so much for the video, I realised that I have a fake friend as they just ask me for homework answers so that the professor will not scold her and after that, she never talks to me about other stuff. At first I didn't realise it until I watched this video. Thank you so much, I'll block her contact number and be careful next time when I make friends and learn about their personality first before talking to them or even share secrets with them.

I have 2 best friends but they hate each other. I know they love to hang out but they always get into fights and neither one says if they feel mad, sad, or left out. They just expect the other to know what they feel all the time. It’s really exhausting for me to always try patching up their fights and I want to have a talk with them to help them out but I have social anxiety and it makes it really hard for me to talk about feelings like that, so I’ve been trying to come up with a way to get them to talk and say why they get mad at the other.

I had had so many fake friends in the past. In the past couple years I've made a new group of friends but I've developed the friendship with cautions. I keep distance and I don't see them as often. I consider myself lucky having an introvert personality. I need very little social life. I do get lonely being alone but still, I refuse to hang out with friends all the time because I enjoy my alone time where I feel so much freedom.
I feel that having a close friendship will only create problems later on. It's nice having some friends but keep your boundaries.

Hi, videos are realy helpful.
And yes, I had false friendships, but analyzing the cases, I discovered that I also exhibited some of the mentioned characteristics in my relationships with someone, sometimes consciously and sometimes not, or under the influence of circumstances.

I have an issue with the favours section
I have many friends that I call if I need help with something, and often we may not have spoken in a while
But whenever a friend contacts me in need of help, I drop everything to be there
Just because someone asks for random favours doesn’t make them a fake friend

That's good.Helping other doesn't mean you that you are fake friend.But,their are fake friends who used one for them,they give wrong information and ideas,They also not give correct information about them if you asked and many things.But ,It does not to not help a fake friend.I have experience like you but finally he showed that he used partially me.
