The Mothers didn't exist until 1964. Your timeline says these recordings were from 1962-1969. Perhaps 1965 at the earliest.

Indeed, I uploaded Frank Zappa & Captain Beefheart - 1958 - Lost in a Whirlpool.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Y78Q3RTUHA
I also make Zappa songs with midi files & DAW's, maybe you might like them.

This was the initial raison d'être of this channel.
I was a musician until 1977 and a few years ago I started working with midi files and VSTi's, since I'm retired I have plenty of time to create some music again.
Have a nice weekend.

Actually, the only stuff recorded before 1963 is on Lost Episodes, which features the earliest known recording by FZ and that is Lost In A Whirlpool from 1958, featuring FZ on guitar, Don Van Vliet (not yet Capt. Beefheart) and Bobby Zappa on rhythm guitar.
The Mystery Discs you mention are no earlier than 1963.

The Mystery Disc.

For diehard fans -- and there really aren't any other kind -- the Mystery Disc material is essential listening, since it chronicles the original Mothers of Invention in a variety of live performances, outtakes, alternate takes, rehearsals and radio shows, all recorded between 1962 and 1969, with the exception of one cut from 1972. It's material that will only be of interest to serious listeners, but there are enough revelations to make the Mystery Disc worth careful listening.

The recordings featured on Mystery Disc cover the early stages of Zappa's career, and were made between 1962 and 1969 (with the exception of "The Story of Willie the Pimp", a 1972 'field recording'). The material overlaps in places with that of You Can't Do That on Stage Anymore, Vol. 5 (1992), Ahead of Their Time (1993), The Lost Episodes (1996) and Finer Moments (2013). A number of the earlier tracks—"I Was a Teen-Age Malt Shop", "The Birth of Captain Beefheart" and "Metal Man Has Won His Wings", all likely recorded in 1964—feature Captain Beefheart on vocals.

@CrazyDigitalMusic
Yeah, but... 1962 was the gist of my comment.

CrazyDigitalMusic

Thanks for commenting, The Mothers of Invention was an American rock band from California. Formed in 1964, their work is marked by the use of sonic experimentation, innovative album art, and elaborate live shows.

Originally an R&B band called the Soul Giants, the band's first lineup included Ray Collins, David Coronado, Ray Hunt, Roy Estrada, and Jimmy Carl Black. Frank Zappa was asked to take over as the guitarist following a fight between Collins and Coronado, the band's original saxophonist/leader.

"Piece Two" is a shorter edit of "The Rejected Mexican Pope Leaves The Stage" and "Undaunted, The Band Plays On"

The date is October 28, 1968. The Mothers of Invention are playing the Royal Festival Hall in London. Frank Zappa has booked 14 musicians from the BBC Symphony Orchestra to accompany them during the first part of the show. He had been writing chamber music pieces in the hotel rooms he visited and wanted to try them out. He strung them together by devising a psychodrama he called "Progress?" This was meant (and indeed turned out) to be a one-time performance, so he made sure to record it. He released the whole thing as Ahead of Their Time 25 years later. The first half of the disc is comprised of the "play." A faction of the Mothers want to play conservative concert music. Don Preston advocates progress with his avant-gardist electronics. He and pianist Ian Underwood battle it out while other frivolous characters (played by members of the Mothers) intervene.
Have a nice time,
Bert
