Already in his youth, Frans Bauer wanted to become a singer after he was inspired by Julio Iglesias, Elvis Presley and Koos Alberts (a Dutch singer). Bauer's own singing career started in 1987 when he recorded his first single, "Ben Je Jong" (Are You Young), under supervision of Dutch producers Rudi Schreijenberg and Emile Hartkamp.
In January 1992 he met his later wife-to-be, Mariska van Rossenberg. He was a local celebrity before rising to national fame due to the national television show "All You Need Is love" in early 1992, where he was to choose two female fans for a date. In 1994 he had his first national hit with "Als Sterren Aan De Hemel Staan". In 1997 he conquered Germany with his album "Weil Ich Dich Liebe".
Frans Bauer's fame kept growing to the point where he had his own reality show called "De Bauers", in which his daily life, including his family life, was followed. Bauer has also designed clothing for the Vroom & Dreesmann retail chain, based in The Netherlands.
He has won several awards and honours in The Netherlands, including a knighthood ("Ridder in de Orde van Oranje-Nassau") due to his charitable work and the "Gouden Televizier-Ring" for the reality show that has been running on Dutch television the year previously.
In 2006 he was struck by an infection on his vocal cords. He recovered after surgery.

Tranen die vloeien, naar een grote zee
'n Beetje liefde, dat geeft je de kracht
Ik ben jou zo dankbaar, dat jij dat hebt gebracht
[refr.:]
Zeven rozen, zeven tranen
Zeggen dat ik van je hou
Waar geluk op is gebouwd
Want een blik diep in jouw ogen
Is als warmte van de zon
Nooit 'n uurtje weggevlogen
Omdat jij mijn hart steeds won
Zeven rozen, zeven tranen
Zeggen dat ik van je hou
't Zijn de dingen in het leven
Onze kracht, is onze trouw
Leven is geven, van dat wat je voelt
Al is het moeilijk, met wat je bedoelt
Sta er voor open, de weg is vaak lang
Geluk is het mooiste, waar ik steeds naar verlang

The song "Zeven Rozen, Zeven Jaren" by Frans Bauer talks about the ups and downs of life and how love can give a person the strength they need to overcome challenges. The first verse talks about how sometimes life can be tough and tears can flow like a river, but a little bit of love can give you the power to overcome anything. The singer is grateful for someone who brought that love into their life.
The refrain repeats the phrase "zeven rozen, zeven tranen" which means "seven roses, seven tears." It's a metaphor for the things that love is built on - the ups and downs, the happy and sad moments that make a relationship stronger. The singer reaffirms their love for the person they're singing to, saying that a deep look into their eyes is like the warmth of the sun and that because of their love, time never seems to fly by or be wasted.
The second verse talks about how giving is a part of life, even if it's difficult to express what you feel. The singer encourages listeners to be open to love and to understand that the journey may be long, but that happiness is worth the effort. The refrain repeats again, emphasizing that the strength of the relationship is built on both the good times and the bad. The song ends with the line "onze kracht is onze trouw" which means "our strength is our loyalty."
Overall, "Zeven Rozen, Zeven Jaren" is a song about the power of love to give someone the strength they need to face life's challenges.
