Faut surtout jamais regretter
The song Confidentiel by Jean-Jacques Goldman is a beautiful tribute to a loved one who has left. The lyrics are heartfelt and speak of the emotions that come with losing someone, but also of the joy and warmth that the memory of that person brings. The singer wants to express to the person who is gone that their face and smile will stay close to him on his journey. He wants to assure them that everything they shared was real, and that he does not regret any of it, even the moments that were painful because they were worth it in the end.
The singer acknowledges that it is okay to cry, and that the memories of their time together will warm him in the winters of his life. He hopes that they will meet again, but even if they do not, he wants them to know that he is still there with them in spirit. The last line, "a small fire of you that never goes out", is a beautiful metaphor for the lasting influence that a loved one can have on a person's life.
Overall, this song is a beautiful and poignant reflection on the importance of cherishing the memories of those we have loved and lost. It reminds us that even though they may be gone, their memory can live on and continue to inspire us.
