She was the younger sister of another popular Iranian female singer, Hayedeh. Mahasti's voice was discovered by maestro Parviz Yahaghi, a distinguished Iranian composer and violinist. She was amongst a rare group of singers who "started" their careers on the prestigious Persian traditional music radio program Gol hâ ye Rangârang( گلهای رنگارنگ), in 1963 with the song "Ân ke Delam Râ Borde Xodâyâ"(Persian -آنكه دلم را برده خدایا) composed and arranged by maestro Parviz Yahaghi with lyrics from Bijan Taraghi. She has worked with some of the most famous Iranian composers, including Parviz Yahaghi, Habibollah Badiei, Homayoon Khorram, Asadollah Malek, Anooshiravan Rohani, Jahanbakhsh Pazooki, Hasan Shamaeizadeh, Mohammad Heidari, Jamshid Sheibani, Sadegh Nojooki, and Manoochehr Cheshmazar as well as some younger composers such as Bijan Mortazavi, Faramarz Aasef, Mehrdad Asemani, and Shadmehr Aghili.

Overall Meaning

In "Hoseleh Asheghi Nadaram" ("I Don't Have the Patience for Love Anymore"), Mahasti sings about being tired of the game of love. She is exhausted from the fickle whims and unnecessary quarrels that arise from being a lover. The opening line of the chorus, "I don't have the patience for love anymore," expresses the sentiment that Mahasti has had enough of the emotional rollercoaster of love. She doesn't care who comes, she will always be there to welcome them into her heart, but she is tired of the lover's talk and unnecessary anger that comes with it.

In the second verse, Mahasti sings about how the person she was with, perhaps the one who caused all the emotional turmoil, was quick to jump from one thought to another. They were always restless, never satisfied with whatever they had, hopping from one shore to another in the quest for new adventures. Mahasti compares their behavior to that of a boat, always being tossed around by the sea. She then reminisces about an incident in which she got drunk and the person she was with had helped her stabilize herself by holding on to her. Mahasti highlights how everything changed as soon as they opened their eyes and realized what they had done. Even though Mahasti's heart was broken, her lover moved on easily, leaving her alone with her shattered heart.
