Exquisite.

Beverly Van Fosson

One of the most beautiful Christmas Baroque pieces of the Twelfth Century. Just beautiful. And I love this arrangement by John Rutter

Alison Hargreaves

17th century.This was originally a solo song with lute accompaniment—one of a whole collection of them compiled in the early seventeenth century by the lutenist William Ballet, hence the title.

Beverly Van Fosson

@Alison Hargreaves Thank you! I thought it was the 12th Century the piece was created. But I suppose the Lute was not invented until much later? It is a lovely piece, and I enjoy listening to the music. Thank you for the information.

Alison Hargreaves

@Beverly Van Fosson It's superb, isn't it?!

Ignacy Golab

@Beverly Van Fosson the lute did exist in the 12th century! (although in primitive form, and probably much closer to the oud from which it originates)
