Past time with good company
I love, and shall until I die
Grutch who lust, but none deny
So God be pleased, thus live will I
For my pastance
Hunt, sing and dance
My heart is set
All goodly sport
For my comfort
Who shall me let?
Youth must have some dalliance
Of good or ill some pastance
Company me thinks then best
All thoughts and fancies to digest
For idleness is chief mistress
Of vices all then who can say
But mirth and play
Is best of all?
Past time with good company
I love, and shall until I die
Grutch who lust, but none deny
So God be pleased, thus live will I
For my pastance
Hunt, sing and dance
My heart is set;
All goodly sport
For my comfort
Who shall me let?
Company with honesty
Is virtue, vices to flee;
Company is good and ill
But every man hath his free will
The best ensue
The worst eschew
My mind shall be
Virtue to use
Vice to refuse
Thus shall I use me

A guy who writes a tune like this can't be all bad...

@sarahstein4191

He was, t really bad, only hard in the last time. A king hasn, t much friends but more enemies. To be a king is no easy job. Henry the 8 was only a human and he began as a romantic young man.

@pamelacorbett8774

A cultured gentleman, wrote this and left to lop off a few heads.

@SarahStein. Henry VIII wasn't meant to be King and it really showed in his reign. He squandered the money saved by his father on mostly failed wars, then dissolved the monasteries to regain his wealth. He did during his split from the catholic church, which he did out of an infatuation with Anne Boleyn, who was a protestant. As many know, he then meticulously planned her execution so he could marry another mistress. Speaking of executions, he beheaded an elderly relative (Margaret Pole, aged 67) out of paranoia, and later changed the law so he could execute insane people just to kill Jane Boleyn, among other questionable acts. He is one of few maligned historical figures who may deserve their reputation.

@Maeshalanadae

Jethro Tull fans would understand. However, Ian Anderson plays a flute, not a kazoo.
