"Beethoven died on 26 March 1827 at the age of 56."
Rest in peace, god of classical music.

I never knew Beethoven made a trombone quartet at all. And it has historical significance, being one of the piecse played at his funeral.

@roddieglossop3942

It had never occurred to me that trombones even existed in 1812.

@maxwellkowal3065

@@roddieglossop3942 They existed in the 1400s my dude

@roddieglossop3942

@@maxwellkowal3065 Looked it up. You're absolutely correct. Happy to learn something new.

@maxwellkowal3065

@@roddieglossop3942 Only natural as a trombonist myself

The Three Equals for four trombones, Wo0 30 (German: Drew Equale für vier Posaunen), are 3 short beautiful equals (or equali) for trombones (or Sacbuts as they were in his time) by Ludwig van Beethoven
They were intended for use on All Souls’ Day (2 Nov) at the local cathedral in Vienna
Beethoven had in his mind the intention of writing these equali as music for his on funeral and the very somber nature of the style of these wonderful pieces was probably bought on or ‘inspired’ in a morbid way by Beethoven’s miserable health during that time - suffering from repetitive headaches, stomach aches and related bowel conditions causing him grief and despair.
There are some who joke that at Beethoven’s funeral ( 29 March 1827) Trombones were used because all of the other musicians in Vienna that day had a gig 😆 but I personally think it was because LvB knew exactly what he wanted and that is why trombones were the only choice because of their superb versatility in expressing emotion
The music is definitely reflective and evokes a moody, somber feeling full of emotion, tension & release masterfully created by LvB to “arouse emotions like no other “

Sublime. Místico. Emoción como sólo Beethoven...

Very therapeutic piece.
