Othello

Serge Lama's song "Othello" tells the story of a man who is consumed by jealousy and suspicion that his lover, Desdemone, is being unfaithful to him. He gave her a lace handkerchief on her birthday, which he saw fall out of the pocket of Cassio, Desdemone's friend, when they went out for a drink and dance. He becomes paranoid, wondering if she gave it to Cassio or if it was stolen from her. He confronts her about it, but she denies any wrongdoing. He then hears a rumor that she was seen leaving a hotel with Cassio, and he becomes even more convinced that she is being unfaithful.
The singer, called "Othello," expresses his love for Desdemone, repeatedly stating that he loves her like no one else can. However, his jealousy takes over, and he feels as though he is being betrayed by the one he loves the most. The song reaches its climax when he wonders if he will lose control and hurt Desdemone, using the handkerchief that was once a symbol of their love as a tool of destruction.
The lyrics of this song illustrate how jealousy can consume a person, causing them to act irrationally and lose sight of what is truly important in their relationships. The reference to the "trompettes de Jéricho" (trumpets of Jericho) symbolizes the destruction and downfall of relationships that are built on mistrust.
