Me repapaloteaste
Como te dio la gana
Y armaste tu mitote
Cuando por tus amigos
De plano te corte
Me traibas en la altura
Y rabiaba al comprender
Que así no era muy macho
Que así no era muy macho
Ni tu eras mi mujer
Papalotito
Papalote en el aigre
Dale un besito
Al hijo de mi madre
Ya tienes tu grandote
Pa' que lo quieras mucho
Y lo hagas padecer
Ya no soy papalote
Ya no soy papalote
De ninguna mujer
Yo fui tu papalote
Me repapaloteaste
Como te dio la gana
Y armaste tu mitote
Cuando por tus amigos
De plano te corte
Me traibas en la altura
Por mas que yo rabiaba
Y rabiaba al comprender
Que así no era muy macho
Que así no era muy macho
Ni tu eras mi mujer
Papalotito
Papalote en el aigre
Dale un besito
Al hijo de mi madre
Ya tienes tu grandote
Pa' que lo quieras mucho
Y lo hagas padecer
Ya no soy papalote
Ya no soy papalote
De ninguna mujer
The song "El Papalote" by Pedro Infante tells the bittersweet story of a man who was used and discarded like a kite by a woman he loved. The lyrics depict the man as the kite, or "papalote" in Spanish, which the woman controlled and manipulated as she pleased. Despite his frustration and attempts to resist her, he eventually realized that his feelings for her were not reciprocated in the same way, and she left him for her friends. The last stanza of the song is a farewell to the woman as he declares that he is no longer her kite, nor will he be anyone else's.
The language and imagery used in the song are strikingly effective in conveying the emotions of the singer. The metaphor of the kite perfectly captures the sense of being at the mercy of someone else's whims, with the person holding the string determining the kite's trajectory and ultimately, its fate. The repetition of the phrase "como te dio la gana" reinforces the sense of powerlessness and frustration felt by the singer, as he feels he has no agency in the relationship. The use of the word "macho" as a negative descriptor for this behavior is also notable, as it challenges traditional ideas of masculinity and gender roles.

Yo fui tu papalote
I was your kite
Me repapaloteaste
You messed with me
Como te dio la gana
However you wanted to
Y armaste tu mitote
And made a fuss
Cuando por tus amigos
When because of your friends
De plano te corte
I finally cut ties with you
Me traibas en la altura
You held me high up in the air
Por mas que yo rabiaba
Even though I struggled
Y rabiaba al comprender
And I got frustrated when I realized
Que así no era muy macho
That it wasn't very manly
Ni tu eras mi mujer
And you weren't my woman
Papalotito
My little kite
Papalote en el aire
Kite up in the air
Dale un besito
Give a little kiss
Al hijo de mi madre
To my dear child
Ya tienes tu grandote
You already have your big kite
Pa' que lo quieras mucho
So you can love it a lot
Y lo hagas padecer
And make it suffer
Ya no soy papalote
I am no longer a kite
De ninguna mujer
To any woman
